So I was just watching a new video from Verlisify with him talking about Ash's Charizard and how he thinks he's been able to uncover the secret behind the disobedience that it displayed towards Ash during the Indigo League. You're probably thinking, "oh boy, Pendra talking about Verlisify, here we go again".Here is the video in all its glory.
For you who don't feel like watching it in its entirety, here are a few points he talks about in the video:
- It talks about all the Exeggutor in the March of the Exeggutor Squad episode where Charmander evolved.
- Quite a few of his badges in Kanto Ash didn't actually win, like the Cascade Badge, Rainbow Badge, Marsh Badge and even the Earth Badge to a degree, so did Charizard think that Ash was a trainer who was skilled and knew what he was doing?
- In the Paras episode, Ash actually tells Charmeleon to go easy on it and in that episode, Charmeleon goes rampant including using Flamethrower on Ash when he tries to call it back, to the point where Pikachu has to shock it for Ash to call it back.
- Damien, Charmander's original trainer, was significantly unkind to it as a Charmander, even leaving it out in the rain where it could have died, and that might have left it with trauma.
Thankfully, after the episode where Ash fights that trainer with the Poliwrath (NOT Lorelei, I must have gotten the two mixed up) and Charizard is hit big time when being frozen, it starts to become significantly more obedient. And then there's the Charicific Valley in Johto, and we don't see it again for a while but it's made quite a few appearances since then.
What do you think? Do you think these things have any relation to what might have caused Charizard's disobedience towards Ash? Anything else you might have thought along the way? Discuss!
I could see those as good points. I mean, If I were Charizard, I certainly would not want to listen to Ash. Also, Lorelei did not have anything to do with Ash's Charizard becoming obediant. It was a different trainer with a Poliwrath.
