I have no idea when the term "fur babies" was coined to refer to dogs, but I cringe whenever I see it.
So what kinds of pets do you have? I currently have a Golden Retriever and a Maine Coon.
My dog used to be really hyper when she was younger, but now she's old and her legs aren't as good anymore. When my dad was still alive, a doctor told him she still has the energy of a seven-year-old. That was a few years ago, and she just turned 15 recently. After we moved, she used to think she was still young and would sometimes slip and fall when she was rushing to greet someone or get to her food, but lately I think she's started to become aware of her age. A ton of major changes have been happening in her last few years, it's really sad.
My cat is really weird. He purrs to express anger, so you can never tell if he's purring because he likes you or because he wants to bite you. Like he'll rub his neck on stuff, which should be a warning sign to stay back, but then he'll come to me and start rubbing up on my leg. Also he keeps meowing whenever he's hungry, and when I follow him he'll lead me to his food bowl. I don't get why he does that... More often than not he already has food in his bowl. I guess he just wants me to watch him eat? Sometimes I might leave while he's eating because I have other stuff to do, and when he realizes I'm gone, he'll stand outside my mom's room and start meowing sadly for me to come back.
I have a tuxedo cat! He’s an American Shorthair that I adopted from the shelter. Almost a year old now. He’s the sweetest cat I’ve ever had - suuuper cuddly and affectionate. He’s also a mischievous little brat who gets into trouble and attacks me when he’s feeling playful. I can’t get mad at him for it since he never bites or scratches me maliciously. :P
Not to be confused with Furbies, haha. Anyway, I haven't had a pet since maybe the late 90's/early 2000s or so, and even so I don't think I'll have my own while I'm still living under my parents' roof. Too much to have around the house and to pay for. That might change in the future, though!
Just saw this thread and thought I'd post. Silphy, your cat seems really cute :3 from what I get, maybe his rubbing his scent on stuff is him marking his territory bit maybe he just doesn't mind you being in it. Andrew that's sad about your dog :c and how pets age really fast.
I have a Schnauzer named Maya. I posted a pucture of me with her a while back, so people mayo remember her. She's really adventurous. We took her to the beach like two years ago, if I recall correctly. She likes company and being with me, so at one point, when I was swimming, she tried to come into the water with me. But she didn't really like it. She's a great dog. Very loyal and affectionate. I know I will definitely be sad if something happens to her, but that's the cycle of life.
I have an eight year old havanese name’s Tucker who is friendly during the day and an absolute grouch at night. He was supposed to be my do but he ended up getting attached to my mom. I also have a Chihuahua named Mia who can get scared by even the tiniest noise. She’s a sweetheart though.
This isn’t a “fur baby” but my final pet is a brown bearded dragon named Gonzo. He’s a very high maintenance pet yet a rewarding one. I have never seen a lizard with as much personality as him.

"You represent the Ground type! The Ground type is all about balance. Like the very Earth you stand on, you are careful and deliberate about your actions. Your patience is a virtue, and you rarely lose your balance when navigating tricky waters. However, you remain an enigma, Ground type. Be sure to communicate your wisdom to others, and perhaps they can assist you in turn. You are somewhat isolated due to your introspective nature. You have a strong sense of self, and are rather stubborn when forced to deviate from the course you know to be correct. Again, remember others' perspectives, Ground type. There is more to the Earth than the ground we walk on, after all."
