Hello everyone! I decided to make a mini-goal for myself to start drawing on a more regular basis. My goal is to make at least one sketch a day. Drawing has always been a hobby of mine that has been off/on. I tend to do not do it as much because in a family of artists, I feel like I'm the weakest link of the bunch.
With that being said, I do want to get more confident in my sketches. I don't really do much except just sketching with pencil and paper, but practice does make things a little bit better ya? Anyways, CnC is always appreciated, and just comments on the sketches overall. ^^
With that being said, here is my little sketch for today. Sorry I don't really have a good scanner. I just use the camera on my phone. It's Lapis Lazuli!
That's such a pretty sketch of Lapis <3 It looks pretty well proportioned, and it even looks to be in a unique style! You should ink and it and color it, if you have the tools and feel up to it. I bet it would turn out really pretty. Even so, I'm so glad you're posting art here I can't wait to see more
Yeeeeee I'm so glad you've started to post your artwork, and that's a brilliant goal you've set yourself! I love the drawing so much, the anatomy is great and your lines are so clean. The style is really beautiful as well. It might be a good idea to think about getting a sketchbook as well, nothing too fancy, I use dollar store sketchbooks and they're great. Drawings look even better on blank paper, plus it will hold up better to erasing and it might be more motivating to have a nice sketchbook dedicated to sketching!
You're just going to keep getting better and better with practice, I really can't wait to see what you create in the future!
Thank you guys so much! I'm currently in the process of getting myself some pens and a sketch pad so hopefully I'll be using those soon. What ink pens do you guys recommend? Or should I just go with regular pens?
I think your SU sketches are really neat looking, but I would have maybe worked more on defining the borders more. Also maybe try working on details? I love you you colored the Piplup and the eyes. It has a lot of personality, which is very good!
Really nice job on the drawings! I especially love the Piplup, it's very well drawn! The Buneary is super cute as well.
If you're still looking for recommendations, if it's for inking over a pencil drawing, definitely get ink pens over regular pens. But for simple sketching purposes, ball-point pens are great and very comfortable to draw with. From what I've used for inking, I'd recommend the Uni Pin Fineliner, Sakura Pigma Micron (only available online for me but could be different in the US), Staedtler Pigment Liner or Faber Castell. Overall the very best pens are probably the Copic Multiliners, but they're expensive and the Uni Pin Fineliner and Staedtler Pigment Liner are very similar.
I'm sorry you guys. School started again so a lot of my energy has been on that. I still want to show my drawings from time to time, so when I have one I would love to show you guys (which I hope is asap). I'll be sure to post it in here. So maybe the goal should be a little bit smaller to a drawing a week. ;///;
