Last winter, Nova Entertainment, a major record company, held a nation-wide competition for a new band, said to be the best talent from around the country. Young adults, age nineteen to twenty-six, flooded in to their closest talent search and submitted a short audition in hopes of making the cut. At long last, Nova Entertainment released its picks for the six coveted spots. Six lucky artists were announced to the public, forever changing their lives in an instant.
However, it wasn't so easy. The new bandmates have to live together under the same house, to cement their bond that would carry them throughout the rest of their careers. Six total strangers have to come together under the band name, Ephemeral Summers.
That was all just the beginning. Now that their popularity has just begun to rise through the roof, the band members will have to deal with rivalries, fans, rumors, and busy schedules. They've learned to live through paparazzi and maintain fake smiles during hard times but can they continue this journey without breaking apart?
And to make matters worse, they are thrust into a reality TV show to maintain their popularity. Their mission? To revive a lifeless coffee shop. The bandmates that lived and thrived on music must figure out a way to use their talents, looks, and 'marketing skills ' to run this shop, earn money, and at the end of the day, try to not kill each other. And there's more... every week, they will receive "Task Cards" which are goals they have to accomplish by the end of the week.
I. Pop-up coffee shop Congratulations! Just as you were all beginning to get along, you and your bandmates have been signed up for a hot, new realityTVshow!
What? You didn't know you did? Well, that's because your awesome manager was the one who signed you up. So get up and get ready to start reviving a coffeeshop!
What are you waiting for? Get going!
II. Photoshoot You didn't think it was that hard to make coffee? Well, joke's on you! In order to advertise, we need your faces posted all over on flyers and television. So it's time for a... photoshoot! Today will be your first photoshoot as a band to spread the news on media.
III. Talk-show interview The reality TV show is over and you may miss all the coffee smells and stains. But worry not, you're still busy with a butt load of work! And more exposure never hurts anyone. Go on a talkshow with the rest of your band mates! Just try not to bicker with each other on live television, okay?
IV. Perform at a festival You can't just be lazing around all summer! You've been invited to perform at a big music festival in LosAngeles! Time to sing your hearts out to the new album you've been working so hard on.
V. Fan meet & greet What? A fan meeting in the city? What could possibly go wrong?
VI. World tour With locations all over the globe, it's your time to shine! It's 90 days on the road with your fellow bandmates. Show the world what you're made of!
VII. Final concert in Paris Wow! It's been a wild ride with all of you. For our last big show, there will be a blow-out concert in Paris! It's set to be the biggest of all time with thousands of fans. It's the final curtain call!
Between all of these events, there will be social interactions between characters. You also need to work on your album so you can choose to make your own songs or use a pre-made one (yay google)! Any other events and ideas are completely welcome because it's YOU who will decide how this roleplay starts and ends. We can have an intense fan stalking them, dealing with hate/blackmails, a thunderstorm/blackout, etc. Whatever works!
Comprised of a swimming pool with a small gazebo and a vegetable garden, this small paradise is a great place to cool off when you're bored of being cooped up inside all day. The grass is a lush green and there are recliners around the pool to relax after a long day of work.
Two of the band bedrooms have two beds, to be shared by two band members. The third bedroom had been converted from a large game room to fit three beds comfortably. Each of the bedrooms has an adjacent bathroom as well.
If a band member is craving something special, they can cook in the spacious kitchen. It's updated with the latest technology along with a gas stove, double oven, microwave, and a two-door refrigerator. The band is in charge of keeping everything stocked with food.
The place where the band eats their meals. To raise morale, everyone sits together at the table for dinner each night, unless they go out.
The heart of the house where everyone can hang out. There's a giant TV on the wall, along with the latest game consoles. Plush couches sit at each wall, overlooking the greenery outside.
Kade's room and office are both located on the third floor, which is completely off-limits to the band members. If he's not downstairs with everyone else, Kade is always in his office working.
II. Thundawave is a moderator of this roleplay. If you are unable to reach me at any point, please refer your questions to Regine and she will answer in my stead. Please respect her as you would respect me, the creator of this roleplay.
III. Please inform others of any impacting decisions such as a plot twist or new relationship. I am definitely open to side quests and little stories. If you would like to see your ideas implemented in the roleplay, please discuss them with me and I will try to accommodate you as much as possible. That being said, if they do not appear in the main roleplay, your ideas might resurface as a roleplay prompt in the Campfire.
IV. Participants that have not posted reliably over a decent period of time will be kicked and replaced. Please, please, please inform me if you will not be able to post regularly. I will most likely be lenient as this is simply the nicest thing you can do for everyone in the roleplay.
V. If you need to drop out for any reason, let the rest of us know and create a resolution with your character. Unlike the above post, this is only if you decide that you MUST drop out because of circumstances.
I. This will be a Casual roleplay. While this means there are not minimums for posting, I do insist on good grammar and style. However, I require that your Personality, Brief Bio, and Appearance follow the Formal guidelines, which means that you must write both five (5) sentences and seven (7) lines of text in each of your posts.
II. Please roleplay in the third-person point-of-view. This is just to make sure that everyone stays on the same page and doesn't get confused. You would use pronouns such as "he, she, they, etc." instead of "I, me, etc." or "you, etc."
III. To show that you have read the rules, please put your nickname in the 'Username' section of the application. Taking myself as an example, I would put the name 'Jaye' instead of my actual username, which is Karolina. Not only does this let me know that you follow the rules, it also tells me what to call you in casual conversation. I mean, Karolina is sort of annoying to type every time you want to talk to me. Jaye is much easier, if you get my drift.
IV. If you have any questions regarding the roleplay, please Private Message Karolina (myself) or Thundawave and we will answer as soon as possible. As for any other OOC-chatter, a Private Message group chat as well as a Discord server will be created for any and all OOC posts. I would much rather that people don't post simply to ask a question. It breaks up the flow of the thread and disrupts things. If you do this, I will simply delete your post. So unless you want me to do so, please just Private Message me or Regine (Thundawave).
V. There will be no reserves in the roleplay, except for the leaders of the roleplay (myself and Thundawave). It will not be first come, first serve. You are free to submit as many unique characters as you want for the various band positions. However, only one will be accepted. Additionally, I will not be accepting any reserves for band positions. Instead, I will set a deadline for people to submit their character forms and, when the deadline is passed, I will choose the characters that I feel will best fit into a band together.
If I feel like there are areas in which your character can improve, I will either post a critique in the campfire or Private Message it to you. Please do not feel upset if your character is not accepted - if anything, this is good practice on creating a modern character and seeing what you can improve on.
Username:Just for reference. I want to know who exactly I will be roleplaying with. Discord:If applicable. If you don't feel comfortable with putting this here, you are welcome to PM me with your Discord username (unless we are already friends on Discord). This being said, Discord is not required for this. Band position:Please designate which band position your character will fill. This is not first come, first serve. I will choose the characters that I feel best fit into the band after the deadline to submit forms has past.
Name:Your character's full name. This must include at least first name and last name, but could be broadened by a middle name. Nickname:Does your character have a nickname that he or she goes by? This is not a required field. Gender:Male or Female? If you would like a trans character, or something along that line, please clear it with me first. Keep the gender balance as even as possible, please! Sexuality:What is your character's sexuality? Age:Between nineteen and twenty-six, please. This is simply to make sure that there is no under-age stuff going on. That kind of stuff weirds me out. Birthday:When is your character's birthday?
Appearance:Please use a picture and describe your character fully (i.e. hair color, eye color, height, body type, and general clothing style). Remember that this section must be both five (5) sentences and seven (7) lines of text. Also, you must choose a face claim from the directory [here]. If you want to use a person not found on the directory, you must clear that person with me first. Faceclaim:This is simply the name of the person that your character's appearance is based on. Remember that this is a real person.
Personality:Please give a full picture of your character, from their basic reactions to innate characteristics. Remember that your character's personality is different from their 'Brief Bio.' Of course, events from their past can affect their current personality, but focus more on who they are as a person, not what happened to them. Remember that this section must be both five (5) sentences and seven (7) lines of text. Likes: Post at least three of your character's likes. This can include their favorite things or simply things that they like to do in their spare time. This can also include vices that they can't live without. Habits: Post at least three of your character's habits. Everyone has little quirks that make them unique, from cracking their knuckles to cursing when they get too excited. Have fun with these, as they make your character stand out from everyone else's! Fears and Dislikes: Post at least three of your character's fears or dislikes. This can be a simple aversion, such as a dislike of small talk to extreme phobias such as water or such. Maybe your character has a fear of water that will spice up their interactions in the roleplay. These fears can be used to make the plot more exciting.
Home Town:Where was your character born and where do they currently reside? Brief Bio:This will give a full picture of what made your character into the person he or she is today. The 'Brief Bio' should include early childhood, important events, and growth into the person they are today. This also will include why these chose to join the band. Remember that this section must be both five (5) sentences and seven (7) lines of text; however, a good description of your character's life should be longer than this.
Relationships:TBD. This section of the character form will be filled out if or when your character is accepted. You will work with the other roleplayers to create relationships between the band members. Since they have to live together, the characters will have definite reactions to each other, possible friendships and/or romantic inclinations, or maybe they even find another person annoying. It's up to you to develop these initial relationships and develop them throughout the roleplay. Other:Anything else that may be important for the rest of us to know. You can be creative here! MBTI: A list of the MBTI types and their descriptions can be found [here]. Speaking color: Please include a hex color in this format (#xxxxxx). A list of hex colors can be found [here]. This color must also be readable, so stay away from yellows, pastels, or bright neons. Theme song: Add a theme song that either describes your character, speaks to them on a personal level, or is simply their favorite song. You can choose to add a YouTube link for the song.
Writing Sample:Please put this in a spoiler. Write a post about how your character's interview for the band went. They would have to perform a short song, showing off their skills to the judges, along with a brief introduction about themselves (name, age, band position, what makes them stand out).
II. Secondary Male Vocalist | Guitarist The band member that plays both guitars. They also provide the male secondary vocals. Light:Ash Nick-Mills
III. Secondary Female Vocalist | Lyricist | Keyboardist The designated lyric writer of the band who also plays the keyboard. They also provide the female secondary vocals. Dawn Dratini:Nicole Alejandra García
IV. Guitarist The band member that can play both the electric and acoustic guitar. Thundawave:Tiffany Krystal Lee
Not all roles will be taken, depending on interest and acceptance. Please keep in mind that gender ratio will be kept as even as possible while you write your character form. If you need an extension or have any questions, please Private Message both myself (Karolina) and Thundawave.
Though I will critique forms the entire time, no character will be accepted until once the deadline has passed. After then, I will go through the forms and select the remaining band members for the roleplay. As such, there are no reserves for this roleplay.
Just like every morning, Aelle's phone went off at 7:00 AM sharp - all thanks to Kade. He decided a while back that the band members were unreliable at waking up, so instead, would send them each a text (or sometimes a phone call) to wake them up. Of course, the message varied depending on the day, but his text was rather abrupt today: Meet in the kitchen at 8:00 AM.
Groaning into her pillow, Aelle turned to her side and nudged Amy with her foot. "The warden wants us downstairs in an hour. I'll grab you some oatmeal - er, porridge - once I'm down there." With that, she dragged herself out of bed and ran through the motions of her morning routine. Make the bed, shower, blow dry the hair, get somewhat presentable, and eat breakfast with Tiff and Emmett.
Emmett was already downstairs eating an omelette as always. "Can I have some?" she asked. He nodded and pushed the plate over to her. "Thanks, Em!" Before sitting down to eat, Aelle grabbed a bowl and the box of Special K Red Berries for Tiff, as well as some instant oatmeal for Amy. As always, Tiff was out on her morning run, but Aelle knew that she'd be back for breakfast. After brewing some green tea and filling up a large glass of water, she sat down at the table and began checking her phone as the others began to slowly stream in.
♬ Speaks to: Amy and Emmett ♬ Mentions: Kade and Tiff ♬ Location: Kitchen
Emmett had been awake bright and early that morning to work on his double kick technique. He had made Tiff breakfast before her run, and had then committed what seemed like 3 hours in the studio to getting his triplet kicks just right in a solo. He had gotten Kade's text at 7 - during his scheduled water break - and saw to meet in the kitchen at 8. Unfortunate - that would cut into his writing time a bit - but acceptable. Kade wouldn't call them together if it wasn't for something important.
So, there he was. 7:55 in the morning, enjoying a southern-style omelette with peppers and shredded potato.
Or, at least half of one, as he had agreed to split one with Aelle the night before. She would probably be down any second...
"Can I have some?"
Emmett nodded, sliding the plate over to her with a clean fork. "Thanks, Em!"
"No problem." He said quietly, smiling. "I whipped up some chocolate chip pancakes this morning as well. They're over on the counter if you'd like some."
He took a sip of water and sighed. "What do you think Kade needs?" He said to Aelle. "I hope it's important."
With a groan escaping his throat at being abruptly awakened early in the morning, Joshua slowly slapped his hand across his nightstand until he found the offending device and brought it over towards him. With squinted eyes looking at his phone, Joshua glanced at the time and in his half-asleep delirium remembered that his manager always texted at this time, 7:00 AM, to wake everyone up. Slowly starting to get up, and glancing around at the others' beds to see what state they were in, Joshua read the text he received telling him to make his way to the kitchen for 8:00 AM.
After taking the time to wake himself, and actually process his managers request, Joshua jumped out of bed began going through his morning routine of making sure he was clean, awake and ready to get the day started. With everything he needed out of the way, Joshua snatched his phone from the nightstand and made his way downstairs into the kitchen
Arriving in the kitchen, Joshua saw both Aelle and Emmett sitting in the kitchen eating and talking while also waiting for the manager to arrive. Consciously making sure he skirted away from Aelle, Joshua made his way towards the cabinets to grab and make some cereal for himself, while mentally scolding himself for how tired he still felt I shouldn't have stayed up so late practicing my keyboard again
The text message tone of the cellphone by the nightstand next to her bed woke Nicole Alejandra from her sleep. She yawned, still not opening her eyes. Finally, some minutes later, she checked her phone and read the text. Kitchen. 8:00. Great, it's still early.
On the other side of the room was a bundle of clothes dropped near another bed. With a sigh, Nicole picked those up and put them on that other bed. There. She made her own and picked up the clothes she would wear; a white blouse with a blue flower design, blue jeans and flats.
After a quick shower, dressing up, and braiding her hair, Nicole was ready to go downstairs.
7:43. Still have time.
She set an alarm for 7:54, picked the book on her nightstand next to her, and continued on where she had left off, until the alarm beeped. Then she headed to the kitchen, whistling a tune from one of the videogames Josh had been playing recently. She stopped once she saw the others.
"Hey Aelle, hi, Josh, morning, Em!" She smiled at each as she greeted them, then grabbed her own plate and picked a couple pancakes for herself and a cup of milk.

Amy moaned as Aelle kicked her violently, awakening her from her slumber. Amy had stayed up late last night, working on deciphering some of Faye's margin notes in one of her old textbooks. Due to their nature as margin notes, they were clumped and hard to read, and the sun was peaking the horizon when Amy finally went to sleep. Now, the offending sun poked through the curtains as the blurry shape, that could only be Aelle, danced about doing her routine. Well, can't be helped I guess. I'll just work through today, and crash later if I get the time.
Reaching blindly out of the bundle of duvets Amy had managed to wrap around herself, giving the appearance of a very convincing cocoon, Amy grabbed her phone and blearily eyed the time. The digital clock read 7:36. "Fuuuuuuuuck." Amy slid out of bed, grabbing the nearest clothes that she had had the foresight to place out yesterday, a simple gray hoodie and black tracksuit bottoms. Grabbing them, as well as her underwear, she stumbled into the bathroom to make herself seem somewhat presentable, or at least not give of the persona of somebody who has a brutally ruined sleep schedule. After wiping her face down with a flannel, and hiding her unkempt hair under beanie #34, Amy felt presentable enough to head down to breakfast.
Poking her head around the dining room wall, Amy eyed the porridge box and grabbed it as she moved towards the hob. Reaching out for her Porridge Pan and setting out the usual amounts. she rubbed her eyes and began the process of making her breakfast. A cursory glance at the time read 7:57. Amy poured out her breakfast into a special Wall-E bowl, and sat and began eating, blowing each spoonful as she did. Her eyes scanned everyone currently in the room, and most got the obligatory Early Morning Amy Grunt.
Just one more block, thought Tiffany as she neared the end of her morning run. There's the stop sign...
Today's run had been full of delays. One of the roads she usually ran on had closed for construction, increasing her time by two minutes. Another five had been consumed by talking to a fan who had recognized her. Her overall time wasn't her best, but breaking her record would have to wait until that construction finished.
Tiffany turned around the bend into the private road leading to the band's house. She checked her watch as she did so, glancing at the time: 7:58. Everyone would probably be awake by this time. Eventually, Tiffany arrived at the entrance, bursting through the doors and not stopping until she slid into her seat with the bowl of Special K that Aelle always prepared for her. She stared at her bowl for a second and then finally looked up, surprised to see the entire band seated around her making light conversation.
"Hey, what's going on? Why's everyone here at once?" asked Tiffany, still fanning her face to cool herself. Clearly she was missing something. She dug into her cereal, taking out her phone to check her Instagram feed only to find a text from Kade that had been sent during her run. "****, there is something happening."
