Rowlet is one of the three starter Pokémon in Pokémon Sun & Moon, alongside Litten and Popplio. It can learn a brand new move called Leafage, which is likely a standard weak attack similar to Ember and Water Gun.

Dartrix is Rowlet's middle stage. It is very conscious of its appearance, and although it can let this get the better of it, it is skilled at using the bladed quills under its wings in battle.

Decidueye

Type: Grass / Ghost
Ability: Overgrow
Officially Revealed: October 27th, 2016

Decidueye, Rowlet's final evolution, becomes part Ghost-type rather than Flying-type. It has a Ghost-type signature move called Spirit Shackle, which does physical damage and traps its opponents from escaping after it hits.

Litten

Type: Fire
Ability: Blaze
Officially Revealed: May 10th, 2016

Litten is one of the three starter Pokémon in Pokémon Sun & Moon, alongside Rowlet and Popplio.

Torracat

Officially Revealed: October 4th, 2016

Torracat is Litten's middle stage. It is very powerful, able to knock out grown men. It can also shoot fire out of the bell-like organ on its neck.

Incineroar

Litten's final evolution, Incineroar, gains the Dark-type on top of Fire. Its signature move is a Dark-type physical move called Darkest Lariat, which attacks relentlessly, ignoring any stat changes the target may have.

Popplio

Type: Water
Ability: Torrent

Popplio is one of the three starter Pokémon in Pokémon Sun & Moon, alongside Rowlet and Litten.

Brionne is Popplio's middle stage. It loves to dance and always remains positive and hard-working.

Primarina

Primarina is Popplio's final evolution, which gains the Fairy typing. It possesses a signature move called Sparkling Aria, a special-based Water-type move that can also heal the target's burns.

Pikipek

Pikipek is an early-route Pokémon who is based on a woodpecker.

Trumbeak

Trumbeak is the evolved form of Pikipek. It eats berries and stores seeds in its beak and fires the seeds as a way of defending itself from its enemies.

Toucannon is the evolved form of Trumbeak. Its beak heats up when it battles and can easily severely burn the opponent. 
 

Yungoos

Yungoos is a Normal-type early-route Pokémon. One of its possible abilities, Stakeout, causes it to do more damage to opponents that switch in mid-fight.

Gumshoos

Gumshoos is the evolved form of Yungoos. Its personality and method of hunting are vastly different than Yungoos, though it can still have the unique Stakeout ability.

Grubbin

Type: Bug

Grubbin is a Bug-type Pokémon, announced alongside Yungoose and Pikpek. It evolves into Charjabug.

Charjabug

Charjabug gains the Electric-type when it evolves from Grubbin, and later evolves into Vikavolt. Its ability is brand new, called Battery, which powers up all special-based moves from its allies.

Vikavolt is the final evolved form of Grubbin.

Crabrawler

Crabrawler is known for its very competitive nature.

Crabominable

Crabominable is the evolved form of Crabrawler. After getting lost in the cold, the Pokemon was forced to adapt so it grew fur. 

 

Oricorio


  

Type: Fire / Flying (Baile), Electric / Flying (Pom-Pom), Psychic / Flying (Pa'u), Ghost / Flying (Sensu)
Ability: Dancer
Officially Revealed: August 1st, 2016

Oricorio has four different forms, each found on one of Alola's four islands. The forms all have a unique way of dancing as well. Oricorio has a brand new ability called Dancer, which copies other dance-related moves, such as Swords Dance or Quiver Dance. It also has a new move called Revelation Dance, which matches the type of the form it's currently in.

 

 

Cutiefly

Type: Bug / Fairy

Cutiefly is a small Bug/Fairy-type Pokémon. It is very in-tune with the emotions and auras of living beings.

Ribombee

Officially Revealed: October 14th, 2016

Ribombee, the evolved form of Cutiefly, collects nectar and pollen into interesting clumps called Pollen Puffs. These can cause paralysis or dizziness, but some have relaxing and soothing effects as well.

Rockruff

Type: Rock
Ability: Keen Eye / Vital Spirit
Officially Revealed: July 1st, 2016

This canine-based Pokémon was first shown very briefly in a CoroCoro trailer. It was later leaked in CoroCoro, then finally officially revealed alongside Komala on July 1st.

Lycanroc


Type: Rock
Ability: Keen Eye / Sand Rush (Midday), Keen Eye / Vital Spirit (Midnight)
Officially Revealed: September 20th, 2016

Rockruff evolves into Lycanroc, who has a significantly different appearance based on the version it evolved in. In Pokémon Sun, Rockruff evolves into the Midday form (top), while in Pokémon Moon, it evolves into the Midnight form (bottom).

Lycanroc in its Midday form can learn a brand new move called Accelerock, which is a Rock-type move with high priority. Its Midnight form instead learns the move Counter.

Wishiwashi


Type: Water

Officially Revealed: August 11th, 2016

Wishiwashi may look small and weak, but once it reaches a certain level, it learns to call for friends to take on a much more intimidating form, called School Form. This is achieved through its ability, Schooling. It is said that even Gyarados is afraid of Wishiwashi's School Form.

Mareanie


 Type: Poison Water
Ability:
Merciless / Limber.

Mareanie is found at the bottom of the ocean and hunts the Pokemon Corsola. It hunts its prey by using a poisonous spike and its tentacles. The Pokemon has a special ability called Merciless in which the Pokemon's attack will always land a critical hit if its opponent is poisoned.

Toxapex

Toxapex is the evolved form of Mareanie. It leaves bits and pieces of Corsola all over the ocean floor. Its poison is said to be incredibly painful and has aftereffects even after recovery. 


 

Mudbray

Type: Ground

Officially Revealed: August 1st, 2016

Mudsdale is the pre-evolved form of Mudsdale. It is extremely powerful despite its size.

Mudsdale's new ability, Stamina, raises its Defense by 1 every time it gets hit by an attack.

Dewpider

Type: Water Bug

Dewpider uses bubbles to breathe on land. Its ability, Water Bubble , decreases Fire-Type moves by 50% while increasing Water-Type moves by 100% before adding STAB. Its ability also prevents burns.

Araquanid

The evolved form of Dewpider. It cares about others despite its appearance. If it finds vulnerable Pokemon, it'll protect them by bringing them into its water bubble. 
 

Fomantis

Type: Grass

Fomantis was revealed alongside its evolved form, Lurantis.

Lurantis

Type: Grass

Lurantis is a Grass-type Pokémon who can learn a brand new move called Solar Blade. Similar to Solar Beam, this move charges from the sun on the first turn, and then strikes on the next turn.

Morelull

Type: Grass / Fairy
Ability: Illuminate / Effect Spore
Officially Revealed: August 11th, 2016

Morelull drains nutrients out of the soil. Because of this, it has to keep moving around to avoid harming other plants.

Shiinotic

Shiinotic is the evolved form of Morelull. Forests where these Pokemon live are treacherous to enter at night. People are confused by its strange lights and are never able to find their way home again. 

 

Salandit

This Pokémon's ability, Corrosion, allows it to even posion Steel- and Posion-type opponents.

Salazzle

Female Salandits are able to evolve into Salazzle. They are filled with pheromones, and their poisonous gases can be diluted to use in the production of luscious perfumes. 

 

Stufful

Unlike its evolution, Stufful is very popular due to its adorable looks and behavior. However, like its evolution, it is also shockingly powerful.

Bewear

One of Bewear's possible abilities, Fluffy, halves damage from moves that make direct contact, but also causes it to take twice as much damage from Fire-type attacks.

Bounsweet

Type: Grass

Bounsweet is a pleasant-smelling Grass-type.

Steenee

Steenee is Bounsweet's middle stage. It has a more sturdy body than Bounsweet, so it no longer fears playing with others.

Tsareena

Type: Grass
Ability: Leaf Guard / Queenly Majesty
Officially Revealed: October 14th, 2016

When Steenee reaches its final stage, Tsareena, it develops a high-class attitude. Apparently, only the strongest of Steenee are able to reach this form. Tsareena has a signature move called Trop Kick in which it kicks the opponent repeatedly, lowering their Attack stat. Queenly Majesty, one of Tsareena's abilities, prevents the opponent from using priority moves.

Comfey

Type: Fairy
Ability: Flower Veil / Triage
Officially Revealed: July 19th, 2016

Comfey's brand new ability, Triage, gives its HP-restoring moves higher priority.

Oranguru

Type: Normal / Psychic
Ability: Inner Focus / Telepathy
Officially Revealed: September 20th, 2016

Oranguru is a Pokémon exclusive to Pokémon Moon. It can use a brand new move called Instruct, which forces the target to immediately use the move it last used.

Oranguru spend a lot of time alone in the forests. They act similar to humans and have even been spotted using Poké Balls and other items that are normally only used by humans.

Passimian

Type: Fighting
Ability: Receiver
Officially Revealed: September 20th, 2016

Passimian is a Pokémon exclusive to Pokémon Sun. It has a brand new ability called Receiver, which allows it to obtain the ability of a fainted ally in battle.

Excellent at teamwork, Passimian travels in troops, led by a boss.

Wimpod

Type: Bug / Water
Ability: Wimp Out
Officially Revealed: July 19th, 2016

Wimpod's only ability is a brand new one called Wimp Out. This causes the Pokémon to flee from battle when its HP drops below half. In Trainer battles, it will switch out for another Pokémon.

Golisopod

Type: Bug / Water

Golisopod spends most of its time meditating in caves beneath the sea. Its ability is called Emergency Exit in which the Pokemon will switch out if its health drops below 50 percent. It only works once per battle. 

 

Sandygast

Type: Ghost / Ground
Ability: Water Compaction
Officially Revealed: August 19th, 2016

Sandygast can suck vitality from beings around them with its mouth. It has the brand new Water Compaction ability, which raises its Defense by 2 stages if it gets hit by a Water-type move.

Palossand

Palossand, like its pre-evolution, has the brand new ability, Water Compaction. Palossand is able to manipulate grown adults and replenish its sand on its own.

Pyukumuku

Type: Water
Ability: Innards Out
Officially Revealed: August 11th, 2016

When Pyukumuku faints, it deals damage to its opponent equal to the amount of HP it had before being knocked out, due to the brand new Innards Out ability. It fires out its inner organs like a fist if you step on it!

Type: Null

Type: Normal
Ability: Battle Armor
Officially Revealed: September 6th, 2016

Type: Null was created to bring together multiple strengths of different Pokémon, giving it its inconsistent appearance and odd name. Due to the way it was constructed, it's flexible to any situation.

Silvally

Type: Normal
Ability: RKS System
Officially Revealed: October 14th, 2016

Type: Null evolves into Silvally by breaking off its heavy mask when it fully trusts its Trainer. Silvally remains Normal-type, but can change types by holding specific items thanks to its ability, RKS System. It has a signature move called Multi-Attack, which also changes type depending on the item Silvally is holding.

Minior


Type: Rock / Flying
Ability: Shields Down
Officially Revealed: August 1st, 2016

This meteor-like Pokémon has a unique ability called Shields Down, which causes it to break and reveal its core when its HP falls below half. Before this ability activates, Minior's Defense is excellent and it is not affected by status conditions. After the ability activates, it will be more suited for attacking. Its core comes in various colors.

Komala

Type: Normal
Ability: Comatose
Officially Revealed: July 1st, 2016

This koala-based Pokémon has a never-before-seen ability called Comatose, which prevents it from being affected by any status other than sleep.

Turtonator

Type: Fire / Dragon
Ability: Shell Armor
Officially Revealed: August 18th, 2016

Turtonator's shell has a layer of explosive material. It has a signature move that takes advantage of this called Shell Trap, which lays a trap at the beginning of the turn. If the opponent then strikes with a physical move, the trap will go off, dealing a lot of damage to the opponent.

Togedemaru

Type: Electric / Steel
Ability: Iron Barbs / Lightning Rod
Officially Revealed: June 30th, 2016

This small rodent-like Pokémon can protrude spikes from its body.

Mimikyu

Type: Ghost / Fairy
Ability: Disguise
Officially Revealed: July 19th, 2016

Mimikyu tries to appear like Pikachu and wants to be loved like Pikachu is. It has a brand new ability called Disguise, which acts like a one-time auto-substitute.

Bruxish

Type: Water / Psychic
Ability: Dazzling / Strong Jaw
Officially Revealed: June 30th, 2016

If Bruxish has the brand new ability Dazzling, it cannot be hit by priority moves.

Drampa

Type: Normal / Dragon
Ability: Berserk / Sap Sipper
Officially Revealed: June 30th, 2016

Drampa has a unique typing of Normal/Dragon. One of its abilities, Berserk, is brand new. This raises Drampa's Special Attack by 1 stage when its HP falls below half.

Dhelmise

 Type: Ghost/Grass
Ability: Steelworker
Officially Revealed: November 18th, 2016

Dhelmise can KO a Wailord in a single blow. The seaweed on Dhelmise is actually a part of its body. Its ability, Steelworker, increases the power of steel-type moves used by this Pokemon by 50 percent. 
 

Jangmo-o

Type: Dragon
Ability: Bulletproof / Soundproof
Officially Revealed: September 6th, 2016

Jangmo-o is an extremely valiant Pokémon who never neglects its training or flees from a fight. Its scales are used both for offense and defense.

Hakamo-o

Hakamo-o is the evolved form of Jangmo-o. During this form, it goes off to live and train alone.

Kommo-o

Type: Dragon / Fighting
Ability: Bulletproof / Soundproof
Officially Revealed: October 14th, 2016

Kommo-o is the final evolved form of Jangmo-o. When it reaches this form, it returns to where it was born. Kommo-o possesses a powerful signature move called Clanging Scales, which lowers its own Defense after use.

Tapu Koko

Type: Electric / Fairy
Ability: Electric Surge
Officially Revealed: June 30th, 2016

This Pokémon is known as the guardian of Melemele Island. Its ability, Electric Surge, causes electricity to fill up the battlefield. This raises the power of Electric-type moves for anyone on the ground, and prevents anyone in battle from falling asleep.

Tapu Koko, like the other island guardians, also learns a brand new move called Nature's Madness. This reduces its enemy's HP by half, similar to Super Fang.

Tapu Lele

Type: Psychic / Fairy
Ability: Psychic Surge
Officially Revealed: October 27th, 2016

Tapu Lele is the guardian of Akala Island. It has the ability Psychic Surge, which covers the battlefield in a strange aura that boosts Psychic-type moves and prevents priority moves for all Pokémon that are grounded.

Tapu Lele, like the other island guardians, also learns a brand new move called Nature's Madness. This reduces its enemy's HP by half, similar to Super Fang.

Tapu Bulu

Type: Grass / Fairy
Ability: Grassy Surge
Officially Revealed: October 27th, 2016

Regarded as the guardian of Ula'ula Island, Tapu Bulu utilizes its ability Grassy Surge, which fills the battlefield with grass, causing all grounded Pokémon to have their Grass-type moves boosted and recover a bit of HP every turn.

Tapu Bulu, like the other island guardians, also learns a brand new move called Nature's Madness. This reduces its enemy's HP by half, similar to Super Fang.

Tapu Fini

Type: Water / Fairy
Ability: Misty Surge
Officially Revealed: October 27th, 2016

Tapu Fini is called the guardian of Poni Island. Its ability, Misty Surge, coats the battlefield in a pink mist (Misty Terrain) that halves the damage of Dragon-type moves, and prevents status conditions, for everyone who is grounded.

Tapu Fini, like the other island guardians, also learns a brand new move called Nature's Madness. This reduces its enemy's HP by half, similar to Super Fang.

Cosmog

Type: Psychic
Ability: Unaware
Officially Revealed: October 27th, 2016

Cosmog is a small and super lightweight Pokémon that resembles the night sky. It is exceedingly rare and mysterious, which has gained the attention of the Aether Foundation, who are currently investigating it. Apparently, its body grows when it is exposed to light.

Cosmoem 

Type: Psychic
Ability: Sturdy 
Officially Revealed: November 18th, 2016

Cosmoem is motionless as if dead. Its known in the distant past as the cocoon of the stars. 

 

Solgaleo

Type: Psychic Steel
Ability: Full Metal Body
Officially Revealed: May 10th, 2016

This is the Legendary Pokémon revealed to be the mascot of Pokémon Sun, appearing on the box art. Its ability, Full Metal Body, prevents its stats from being lowered by an opponent's moves or abilities. Solgaleo's signature move, Sunsteel Strike, disregards the opponent's ability when used.

Lunala

Type: Psychic Ghost
Ability: Shadow Shield
Officially Revealed: May 10th, 2016

This is the Legendary Pokémon revealed to be the mascot of Pokémon Moon, appearing on the box art. Its ability, Shadow Shield, softens the blow of any attacks that hit when Lunala has full HP. Lunala's signature move, Moongeist Beam, disregards the opponent's ability when used.

 

Magearna

Type: Steel / Fairy
Ability: Soul-Heart
Officially Revealed: February 14th, 2016

Magearna is a Mythical Pokémon that was hand-made by humans a long time ago. Its ability is called Soul-Heart, which raises its Special Attack by 1 stage every time another Pokémon in battle faints. It has a signature move called Fleur Cannon, which deals damage on top of lowering the target's Special Attack by 2 stages.

Marshadow 

Type: Fighting / Ghost
Ability: Technician
Officially Revealed: Has not been officially announced yet.

Marshadow is a mythical Pokémon that is not officially announced or is available in game. This Pokémon likes to conceal itself in the shadows and because it never interacts with humans, this Pokémon's existence is the stuff of myths and legends. It has its own special Z-Move called Soul Stealing 7 Star Strike.
