For some reason the text box wasn't working on mobile so bear with me...

Awesome sause! I'll try to start one up soon then! I know it would go under the X and Y forum, but what catagory? JUSt make a new thread in competitive battling?

I just want to be apart of something where everyone is noted for battling and gains rank based on skil 0~0 i cant find a forum with any active ones.

This. Clans is how I get social on forums and I just love the battling aspect of them. I just can't take the term "club" seriously... This might be a flaw on my part, but I think a clan section would actually benefit the forum as it points new people to the competitive community of this forum.

Well..I guess you could always create one? Maybe? (check the rules first ;D)

Except to create a club you need at least 500 posts. Assuming someone is new that want to start a clan, he'd have to get a friend that has been here a while to start one up or post a lot. Even if he posted a lot it would still take a while to get 500 posts, especially if he cares about his posts and tries not to post posts that have little to no value to the thread.

  • posted a message on Competitive Aggron

I've been trying out a set like this:

    [email protected]

    252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef

    Careful (+SAtk -SAtk)

    Filter

    -Iron Head/Dragon Tail

    -Rest

    -Sleep Talk

    -Roar/Dragon Tail

Dragon Tail and Roar can be ran together, but I prefer Iron Head + Roar. It works really well since the sleep mechanics have reverted to fourth gen mechanics. Rest is awesome recovery since Aggy is so dang bulky with nothing hitting it for SE damage since Filter activates. This is great on a stall team that abuses hazards.

Your set works. Taunt+Metal Burst works well, but I'd try to fit Rest along with a Cleric in your team. A Cleric is someone with Aromatherapy/Heal Bell to heal the status alignments in your whole team, thus waking up Aggron early. I'd use Rest>SR if you really want to use that set.

If you want to use it more offensively, you can use Iron Head>Metal Burst, keep EQ and add maybe Stone Edge>Taunt and Rock Polish>SR with an offensive EV spread.

Nice Guide! Helped me alot as it was my first time ev training! Now i have a fully ev trained dratini :) Btw, I have a question. After you have fully eved a pokemon, can u just train it normally wherever you want as it is still around lvl 20 :/

    Thanks!

Once a Pokemon is fully EV'd it cannot gain any more Evs meaning you can just level it up as normal.

Can someone please help me I don't know what to do. I understand that sweet scent doesn't work in the rain but it rains consistently in route 14 so how am I gonna ev train in attack without hoard battles? And yes I know you can with out them but is there a different spot that I can use ?

Same as this. The rain pisses me off to no end. Any way to get rid of it quickly and easily?

Connecting cave has hordes of Axew that are pretty common iirc. Check there if it is raining in route 14, which it should stop at one point iirc.

Even considering the rarity level of a single Wingull (Heh.. single Wingull) in the wild, I can never seem to find one. Curse you irony..

Evs max out at 252 this gen, so if you are having issues just fight a horde again.

I suppose it does do that, but it'd be so much better to have it in exact numbers. Obviously its easy to tell when you're doing a set that goes something like 252 / 252 / 4 but when there are weird sets of ev's (eg. my Azumarill has something like 168 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 64 Speed) It does get kinda confusing

Get a reset bag. Save. Reset and then load the game to check the exact number.

You said to teach the pokemon you are training a multi target move, or teach another pokemon one.   Does this mean that if you kill the horde of pokemon with another pokemon, all pokemon in your party will gain EV's, or just the pokemon who defeated the horde?  Or do you put the pokemon you are training in first, and then switch it out for a pokemon with a multi target move? Will it still get the same amount of EV's? I ask this because I plan to EV train my newly hatched level 1 perfect IV pokemon, and I have a feeling defeating a horde of oddishes at level 1 with surf is not going to do the trick.

You can do this multiple ways.

    A. Put the pokemon you are EVing in front and then switch to a pokemon with Multi-target moves

    B. Turn the Exp. Share on. This causes your whole team to get exp.

The bottom line is anyone who receives Experience gets EVs. As long as the person you are EVing gets Exp, they will get EVs. Hope this helps.

Heyya! I mainly joined because someone showed me the EV guide for X and Y and I wanted to try and help. I am a competitive battler that has been slacking recently, but I have beat X and Y, so I will try to raise some teams later. I did  a Nuzlocke of X recently and now I restarting it with my team picked by my friends. I am originally from Serebii (hate it not me lol). I heard that this forum had clans at one point and I'd like to start that up again sometime. probably once 6th gen battle has become more concrete. Nice to meet you all!

Yes, it should work. All Pokémon that gain EXP will gain EVs. I was just wondering if I EV train my Pokémon with a Power Item in a horde battle will it gain +4 just once or for every Pokémon in that horde battle?

For example, if I beat 5 geodudes, will I gain 9 EV's in Defence or 25?

You would get 25. With Pokerus, this becomes 50.

Just to clarify something about EV's I have confirmed that EV spread now is capped at 252.

I tested this on Super Training and normal EV training with wild pokemon. Once you reach 250 EV even if you Super Train instead of the 4EV you get 2 to make it to 252.Again I tested with horde EV training once I got to 250 I fought 1 more horde to see if I got to 255 and once I used a reset bag the stat corresponded to -252 in the ST diagram.

Feel free to test it but now you can just speed through EV training without having to worry about going over the cap.

    Zero

I've noticed this too and can confirm this.

If you add the power items to all five pokemon (assuming you aren't eving Oddish) and all 5 of them have Pokerus, you can use the EXP Share to ev all of them at once. This can also be done with 6 pokemon by utilizing Honey, but if you don't have Combee, I'm not sure how easy Honey is to find. It might take a while to get 5-6 power items each, but it would be worth it if you are training teams/a lot of pokemon in the same stats. Extremely helpful for Speed and HP since most pokemon on offensive or stall teams share the need for that stat.

I'd add that in, but unless you want unwanted EVs on some of your pokemon, I'm not sure how many of us have the patience to get multiple power items lol. I know I don't. Good to know, however. :D

The "unwanted" evs would be your choice. It mainly a method mainly to use if you need 5-6 pokemon ev'd in one stat quickly. Say you are Eving an Alakazam/Latios/Reuniculas/Gengar/Delphox for example. All you need is one spread move and, maybe Heat Wave on Delphox, and boom. 5 pokemon ev'd in speed.

I would at least mention honey if you don't want an oddish. If not, that is fine. Just a suggestion [:

Sup. The Bellsprout picture. Bellsprout for attack? Does Bellsprout give 1 Attack EV?

I just checked Serebii and yes it does. I even checked 5th gen to see if it was a misprint and it wasn't. It does indeed give 1 in attack :]
