Welcome to Piltover vs Zaun, a League of Legends themed mafia focused on my personal favourite conflict within the lore! Two cities, one existing literally underneath the other. A fractuous harmony has always existed between them, and resentment has been high on both sides for a number of years. Those in Piltover have always aimed to keep the peace, but when powerful individuals in Zaun band together to destroy Piltover... there can be only one response.
Mafia is a game (also known as Werewolf or Town of Salem, if you've heard of those) wherein two primary factions (the Town and the Mafia) compete in order to eliminate the other. Each participant is given a role to play. Each of these roles has a different power they can use in order to influence the game. There are two phases: day and night. In the night phase, everybody selects a target to use their power on. Certain roles and factions (such as the Jailer and the Mafia) also have a night chat they can use to discuss the game. In the day phase, everybody is able to talk in the topic and discuss the night's events and how to proceed. Everybody may select a target to 'lynch'. Once a majority of votes is accumulated, that person is killed and their role is revealed at the end of the day.
The goal of the town is to eliminate all mafia and evil roles.
The goal of the mafia is to have a majority over the town and eliminate any evil roles that get in their way.
In addition to the town and mafia, there are 'neutral' roles. These guys are mostly out for themselves, and have separate win conditions to the town and mafia. Some can win with the town, some can win the mafia, some can win with both, and some can only win with other neutrals. Eliminating them is just as much a priority for both factions (if their loyalty cannot be secured).
Do not talk about Mafia outside of Mafia. Period. Doing so will result in a Literal Ban.
Do not directly quote any private message received by me. Doing so will result in a Literal Ban. You may convey what I have told you via private message, but you must not use the quote button. Type it in your own words.
Follow all rules of the forums. The exception is double posting, which is permitted ONCE. Posting three or more times in a row will result in the traditional warning.
There will be NO list of roles for this game! The game will be balanced according to the number of players, but you won't know for sure how many players there are of each faction! The game will be balanced with this in mind.

Q: Can duplicate roles exist?
A: Yes, there may be multiple of any role present in the game. Exceptions are the Godfather and Cult Leader - only one of those exists at a time.
Q: How are night chats handled?
A: Through PM on this forum. I will add the relevant people to every night chat. The jailer (if one exists) will communicate with an alternate account that I will create that does not have an obvious jailer name.
Q: How do we submit our actions?
A: To me (in the same chat) through PM or in the relevant night chat if you have one.
Q: Is there an activity policy?
A: Yes. You must submit at least ONE message or action per Day/Night phase. If you aren't doing anything, tell me as such through PM. If you fall foul of this policy ONCE WITHOUT MESSAGING ME IN ADVANCE you will receive a literal ban. This policy will not apply on days/nights that do not last longer than 24 hours.
Q: Can I delete/edit my posts?
A: NO. What you submit MUST stay on the record (and I can check!). This is why you are allowed to double post. Persisting editing/deleting posts will result in you getting a Literal Ban.
You are the leader of the town's police force! Every night, select one target other than yourself to visit. You will investigate this target. If the target is a member of the Mafia (excluding Godfather) or an Evil Neutral, you will receive a suspicious result. If the target is Town, Godfather, or Benign Neutral you will receive an unsuspicious result.
You are the town's doctor! Every night, select one target other than yourself. You will heal this target or save them from Cult recruitment. You and your target will be notified of this, but you will not learn each other's identities. You can only prevent one attack/recruitment per night. Doctors will prioritize healing over recruitment prevention should their target be attacked by both.
You are a member of the town police force! Every night, select one target other than yourself to visit. You will learn of every person your target has visited that night.
You are a member of the town police force! Every night, select one target other than yourself to visit. You will learn of every person who visited your target that night, including those that moved prior to you. You are also immune to the Spree Killer.
You are the town's local strongman! Every night, select one target other than yourself to visit. If your target is directly attacked, you will kill the attacker but die yourself in the process, piercing any immunities. You can only prevent one attack.
You are the town's mayor! During the day, PM the host to reveal yourself to all players in the game. Your identity will be host confirmed, and your vote for lynching will count for three instead of the usual one.
You are a local mage, skilled in speaking with the dead! During the night, you will receive anonymous messages from the dead. You may then convey this during the day. After death, you may pick one member of the game to engage in a seance with. You may then pass on one last message to this person. You can use this ability at any time after death.
You are a member of the town's police force! During the day, pick one member of the game to jail. This target will be roleblocked but also be immune to all night actions during their time in jail. During the night, you may talk with that person at your leisure, and you will be anonymous to that person. If no lynch occurred that day, you may choose to execute your target. You may execute up to three times a game. Executions cannot be roleblocked.
You're in charge of public transport for your town! During the night, pick two members of the game. These members will be swapped. Any night action directed at A will go to B, and vice versa. You may swap yourself.
You're a paranoid veteran of war, suspicious of everybody! During the night, you may choose to go on alert. You will kill anybody who visits you. You may do this up to three times a game. You pierce night immunity.
You're an ex-member of the town's police force, taking matters into your own hands! During the night, pick a target to kill. You may do this twice a game at any point. You do not pierce immunities. If both of your shots hit town, you will die of guilt the same night.
You are a local dancer! During the night, pick a target to roleblock. This will prevent them from using their night action. Attempting to roleblock the Godfather or another Dancer will result in failure, and your target will be notified as such.
You are the owner of the local firearms store. During the night, pick a target other than yourself to give a gun. You may only do this once every other night, but you may try again the next night if it fails. If the Gunsmith is controlled by the Witch, the Gunsmith will be forced to give a gun to the target, but it will not affect the cooldown on this ability. The Gunsmith is not revealed to the player they give a gun to. If you have a gun, you may fire it at any point during the day phase. To fire your gun, you must PM the hosts who you wish to fire it at. The gun can be held for as long as the holder likes. When the gun is shot, the player who is fired at will die unless they are the Veteran, Godfather, or Survivor. If the shot fails, the gun will still be used and the announcement will still be made. When the gun is shot, the shooter may or may not be revealed to the town. RNG will be used to determine this, with a 50% chance of having the shooter revealed.
You are the leader of the mafia! You are night immune and show up as unsuspicious to the Sheriff. During the night, talk with the Mafia. You may pick one target to kill.
You are a local dancer, but not a nice one! During the night, pick a target to roleblock. This will prevent them from using their night action. Attempting to roleblock the Godfather or another Dancer will result in failure, and your target will be notified as such.
You are an investigator for the mafia! During the night, pick one target to visit. You will investigate this target and learn their exact role.
You are somebody skilled in silencing people! During the night, pick one target to blackmail, preventing them from speaking the next day. Blackmailed targets may only vote or type 'I AM BLACKMAILED' or a variation of the message.
You are somebody skilled in taking people away at night! During the night, pick two members of the game. These members will be swapped. Any night action directed at A will go to B, and vice versa. You may swap yourself. You may not swap the target of the Mafia's killing.
You are skilled in the art of forgery. During the night, pick any target to frame. You can either frame a mafia teammate as unsuspicious or someone else as suspicious. This will be reflected in the Sheriff's results. The target is not notified they are framed. The effect lasts for one night.
You are a local Janitor who wishes to rise up in the world! During the night, you may choose to clean someone alive that night, even if they are not the Mafia's kill target. If that person dies that night, their role and faction are not shown the next day, and the Janitor will receive that information via PM. The Janitor has two uses of his ability.
An ordinary member of the mafia - but you have ambitions! During the night, you may kill somebody for the Mafia, but only if the Godfather chooses not to do so. If the Godfather dies, a random Mafioso will become the new Godfather.
You are a selfish survivor, concerned only with your own security! During the night, choose whether to use a vest. A vest grants you night immunity. You may do this three times during the game. To win, you must survive until the end of the game. You can win with anybody else.
You are a forgetful person with something important to remember. During the night, you may choose one dead person. The next day, you will take their role for yourself and join the relevant faction. This will be announced at the start of the day, though your identity will not be revealed. Your win conditions are the same as your new faction's. If you do not choose a role by the end of the game, you will lose.
You are looking for some knowledge. During the night, you may pick one person as your mentor. If that person dies that night or is a Godfather, Cult Leader, or Mayor, the decision will fail, and you may choose again the next night. When it succeeds, you can no longer pick a mentor. Upon success, you will learn your mentor's role, and your mentor will learn your identity. You gain a night chat with your mentor and only your mentor the following night. If they die, you get their role. You will not be in any night chats that your mentor is in until they die. You will have the same win condition as your mentor, or you must survive until the end of the game if you have no mentor.
You are a town mage, but not the good kind! During the night, select one target to control and one target to visit. Your will direct your controlled target to the visited person, where they will be forced to perform their night action on them. You only visit your controlled target, and the action will occur when the controlled person's action would occur. If you select the Jailer to control, they will be forced to execute their prisoner regardless of whom you selected them to visit. Your win condition is to survive while seeing Town lose.
You are a crazed individual, wanting to see the whole town suffer! During the night, select one target to kill. You have night immunity. Your win condition is to be the last person alive.
You are a crazed individual, but you prefer to wait in ambush for your target! During the night, select one target to visit. You will kill anybody who visits that target (except Watchers) regardless of their place in the Order of Operations, and you pierce night immunity. Your win condition is to be the last person alive.
You are the leader of a secret cult! Each night, you can choose someone to recruit into the Cult. If the person is a Mafia member, Amnesiac, Student, Serial Killer, or Spree Killer, the recruiting will fail. Targets are not notified of failed recruitment. Otherwise, they will become a Cult member but retain their role. Upon successful recruit, the Cult will learn of their new member's role, and the recruit will learn the identity of all living Cult members. Recruits' win conditions will be changed to match those of the Cult. If the Cult Leader dies, half of the remaining Cult members (rounded DOWN) will suicide that night. In order for any member of the Cult to win, the Cult must hold a majority over all remaining players in the game.
